Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens

In Hobart

The Royal Tasmanian Botanic Gardens in Hobart are situated on the eastern edge of the city, overlooking the Derwent River and the Tasman Bridge.

As well as the usual range of native and exotic trees and flowers, the gardens feature the historic gardener’s cottage and convict-built walls, an extraordinary garden of antarctic climate plants housed in a special refrigerated “greenhouse”, Pete’s vege garden and the site of the old Hobart zoo where the last Thylacine died in 1936.

There’s also a restaurant, cafe and picnic sites.
